General Linda Bond is the current international leader of The Salvation Army.  Several weeks ago General Bond asked Salvation Army people around the world to specially observe prayer each Thursday, individually and corporately.

Each week  the General asks prayer for specific subjects, this week including “the courage and compassion to stand for and serve the marginalized”.

Those of us who work for the good of the city need to also pray for the city.  Especially for those in the city who suffer:

  • waiting to visit loved ones in jail and prison
  • overcoming shame to seek emergency assistance
  • praying their children will safely make it home from school
  • wanting to stop using drugs
  • facing eviction from their home
  • without work

We who work for the good of the city should also pray.
