How a holiday’s significance can change.  

This Sunday I mentioned to a friend how hard a time I have observing Columbus Day (October 10 this year) the way I did as a school child.  Then it was an observance without the history of genocide and racism Native Americans have been subjected to since Europeans came to the Americas.
