See today’s Detroit Free Press for the latest on talk of bankruptcy for the city of Detroit.  Right now it appears the city will be out of money in April.  On top of that chances are the State of Michigan will appoint an emergency manager just as it has for Flint, Pontiac and Benton Harbor.

Columnist Rochelle Riley brings up the Detroit Works proposal of Mayor David Bing.  It’s a plan to move Detroiters into a denser population pattern, allowing the city to use its services more efficiently.  It would likely mean pulling the plug on lights, police and fire protection and other services in empty parts of the city.

Large areas of Detroit already are looking like the plug has been pulled.  But, desert more of Detroit?  At this point it seems one of the best strategies to try save the city.
