It feels surreal to look at these photos of Utopia Detroit.

It’s not quite as surreal, but close to it, reading news today of Judge Steven Rhodes’ decision “that this once proud city cannot pay its debts.”  untitled

The city of Detroit has entered Chapter 9 bankruptcy.  It is the largest city in America ever to do so.  It has earned the distinction through $18 billion worth of debt.

More from Judge Rhodes:  “At the same time, it has an opportunity for a fresh start. I hope that everybody associated with the city will recognize that opportunity.”
